Your safety is essential, especially while conducting home visitations. In part one of this workshop, an initial review of personal safety and the six steps of a home visitor safety guide when conducting home visits is done. The workshop provides working definitions of ethics and morals and reviews various ethical decision-making models. Main topics include a mental health professionals’ role, modeling versus creating dependency, setting healthy boundaries, moral dilemmas, appropriate language, handling crisis situations, and behavior while in the home. In part two of this workshop analysis of general ethical principles, moral dilemmas, various standards within the Code{s) of Ethics, along with commentary and case vignettes that support the standards, are reviewed. Some workshop time is devoted to a review of Mental Health Professionals' role in "Duty to Warn" State Laws in part one and part two.
